The Melbourne dealership has what Meredith Santos describes as a “small country club” atmosphere – casual, relaxed and friendly. “People enjoy coming here,” said Santos, general sales manager. “Repeat customers will come in fora cup of coffee and say hello.”
The dealership attracts customers from all over the state for its no-pressure approach. “We try to make it easy,” Santos said of a car purchase. Those happy owners have placed Prestige Volkswagen in the top 5 percent of Volkswagen dealerships nationwide in terms of customer satisfaction.
An employee for 11 years, Santos has worked many aspects of the business. She started in 2006 selling cars, drawing on her outgoing personality and a background in retail sales. Customer service comes naturally: Growing up in New York, Santos helped in her parents’ restaurant and worked as a travel agent anda clothing retailer. Selling cars was just learninga new product.
The variety of the job kept her in the business. “You meet different people, and every transaction is different. You don’t come to work and do the same thing every day,” she said.
From sales, Santos moved into the finance side of the business, combining her love of math and management to serve as finance manager for three years. In addition to helping a customer find the right fit in a vehicle, she learned to navigate options to find the best financing solution for each customer’s individual situation. In fact, she was hesitant to move into managing sales because she enjoyed finance so much. But taking on a new challenge won out.
Like Santos, many Prestige employees enjoy an impressive tenure at the dealership. “We don’t have a revolving door,” she said.
Making waves at the dealership is the new Volkswagen Atlas, giving the manufacturer an entry in the large SUV segment. The vehicle seats six or seven passengers, depending on seating configuration. Available as an option, a panoramic sunroof runs almost the length of the three rows. With seats folded down, the vehicle offers 96.8 cubic feet of cargo space, and there’s no skimping on the cupholders and USB ports. Pricing starts at $30,500.
Redesigned for 2018, the Tiguan, Volkswagen’s crossover SUV, added a third row on its longer wheelbase. Starting at $25,345, the redesigned interior upped the legroom and added more space than ever before.
Perennially popular, the Jetta and Passat continue to pack style and technology in the sedan segment.
The dealership also offers a selection of preowned vehicles, reconditioned and ready for purchase.
Prestige Volkswagen is offering 0 percent financing on many vehicles and rebates up to $5,000 on select models. Lease specials start as low as $99 a month.
Family owned and operated, Prestige has been serving Brevard, Volusia and Indian River counties for more than 25 years. Visit the dealership at 1416 S. Harbor City Blvd. in Melbourne or online at melbournevw.com.
